Community Resources

Included on this page is an array of resources to help our families find important information and stay engaged in their child's learning.

Community Learning Center

We are very proud to be a Community Learning Center and a neighborhood anchor. We strive to go beyond academics to focus on the whole child. We do this by serving as a hub for services that are available to students, their families and the entire community. We are able to offer a variety of services thanks to the support of our many partners and the Oyler community.

Jami Harris-Luggen is the Resource Coordinator for Oyler School. To learn more about the services available at our school or how your company or organization can become a CLC partner or volunteer, please contact Harris-Luggen at (513) 363-4167 or via email.

Families and Students

Below are links to some of the most important information you’ll need as you prepare your child for a rewarding educational experience in Cincinnati Public Schools.

Technology Tools

  • Focus (https://focus.cps-k12.org/focus/auth/) is our new student information services (SIS) application.

Teachers will use Focus to record attendance, post assignments and report grades. Students and families use Focus to view assignments and monitor grades. It's important to note that Focus is the grade book of record for all CPS students. Many teachers also use Canvas, our learning management system, to support learning; however, the most complete grading information is seen on Focus.

  • Canvas (https://cps-k12.instructure.com/) is Cincinnati Public Schools' learning management system (LMS). Teachers use Canvas to post course materials, assignments and announcements, creating a centralized hub for all class activities. Students access Canvas to submit assignments, participate in discussions and activities and stay informed about their coursework. Please note that ALL teachers will use Focus for grade management; however, not all teachers will use Canvas for class materials and assignments.

  • Google Apps for Education — CPS has adopted Google Apps for Education as a key tool for student learning. Google Apps for Education is a web-based suite of programs provided by Google for schools to use. All Google Apps services can be accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection.
  • Naviance — A software tool for career planning, Naviance helps students achieve three primary goals: Get to know themselves, explore possibilities and take action.

Putting our Technology Tools to Work

Our world is driven by technology. Digital devices and software add a dynamic element that keeps students interested and provide access to tools that prepare them for the future.
