The Oyler Family Welcome Center focuses on family support, family advancement, and increased quality of life for Oyler students, parents, and community. To maximize the stability and well-being of families as conditions necessary for learning, family support services are responsive to referrals for assistance in stabilizing families, family advancement services.

PARENTS FOR OYLER- A sub-committee of the Oyler Family Welcome Center where parents can come together monthly to get to know more about the school, share their voice on opportunities or concerns that will help make the school a better place. Oyler provides extended-day academic and enrichment programming customized to meet the needs and interests of all students.  After school academic curriculum is designed to supplement and enhance what is taking place in the classroom during the school day, while enrichment programming will offer students the opportunity to participate in engaging clubs and activities that will help promote an optimal after-school experience.  Programs run Monday-Thursday during the school year.

The Community Learning Center Institute Director of Media Arts and Communications is responsible for developing the Media Arts infrastructure and plan for the entire school. Media Arts is a school-wide initiative aimed at creating engaging ways for students to learn literacy skills through the lens of communication, journalism, and media in the K-12 curriculum. Its goals include bringing communications professionals into the classroom to provide exposure to pathways after graduation; providing hands on experiences & field trips to places like newsrooms; giving students college experiences at schools like University of Cincinnati, Ohio University and Northern Kentucky University; building relationships with partners in the classroom; the construction of a broadcast/media lab and strengthening the overall educational experience at Oyler.

Adopt A Class connects businesses and civic groups, as mentors, with students in schools with high percentages of poverty. Each month, adopters visit our school to conduct monthly mentoring with educational activities, field trips, and pen palling that focus particularly on college & career, STEM, and life skills. Adopt A Class serves students Pre-K through 8th grade, exposing students to a breadth of experiences and careers, while sparking a culture of teamwork among the mentors. TUTORING AND MENTORING SERVICES

400+ mentors and tutors from 75+ local businesses, churches and individuals work daily with Oyler students’ grades 1-4.  The mentoring program runs Monday – Thursday from 8:00AM – 12:40PM.

Costars through Best Point is an afterschool licensed program, providing high quality onsite services for grades K-6. Using Best Practices in peer learning and social emotional development, students participate in daily activities designed to promote their talents, confidence and school success.

Best Point’s team of professionals diagnoses and treats mental, emotional, social, and behavioral disorders.  Medication management is also available through this organization.

OYLER CLINIC-SCHOOL BASED HEALTH CENTER – MEDICAL CARE

The Oyler Health Clinic serves primarily the students of Oyler and their family members but is also open to adults in the neighborhood and Oyler staff.  The clinic is open 7:30AM – 3:30PM Monday – Friday during the school year.

DELTA DENTAL CENTER AT OYLER SCHOOL – DENTAL CARE

The Delta Dental Center at Oyler School is staffed by a full-time dentist and professional staff who provide comprehensive dental exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, stainless steel crowns, extractions, and root canals.  Our dental center is open to any child within the city of Cincinnati, enrolled in school or under the age of eighteen years of age.  The center is open from 7:30AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday during the school year, as well as by appointment during school breaks. 

ONESIGHT VISION CENTER AT OYLER SCHOOL– VISION CARE

The FIRST self-sustaining school based vision center in the NATION providing comprehensive vision care including eye exams and glasses for Oyler students and children in the community beginning at age 3 through 18 years.  The vision center is open 7:30AM-4:00PM Monday – Friday during the school year.

ROBERT AND ADELE SCHIFF EARLY LEARNING CENTER  – EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMMING

Serving children 6 weeks to 5 years old in a state-of-the-art environment, qualified teachers and support staff offer Lower Price Hill children the best in early childhood education 5 days a week, year-round.  The Schiff Center has recently expanded to include the property at 2129 Staebler Street, right next door to Oyler School.

The Early Childhood Resource Coordinator works to provide a one stop shop for families with young children. The RC works with all families who have children 5 and under in the school and community and helps with the following:

• Enrolling in Robert & Adele Schiff Early Learning Center, which serves Oyler families with children 6 weeks - 5 years of age, Monday - Friday, full day and year round
• Help enroll in Oyler Pre-k and Kindergarten
• Working with Oyler teachers to prepare for Kindergarten
• Parent-child learning groups, live and on demand
• Assistance in connecting to other Oyler partners, including medical, dental, vision and mental health care
• Help with housing, employment, food, and diapers

GRAD provides college counseling services including college visiting, summer programs on college campuses, assistance with test preparation for ACT/SAT, completing college application forms and seeking scholarships.

JCG is an elective high school class that provides students with job preparation, career exploration and college/vocational planning.  We follow graduates for one year after graduation to assist and track if they are working or are in school.

STUDENT/FAMILY ADVOCACY & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING

Santa Maria at the Joe Williams Family Center facilitates social-emotional and life skills groups that help youth develop skills critical for success in school and life.  Focus on the groups is placed on peaceful conflict-resolution and peer resistance skills.  In addition, Santa Maria staff meets at least twice monthly with parents/guardians of youth group participants to keep them informed.  Linkages are then made to other Santa Maria programs (Housing, Health and Wellness) or to other agencies to address identified needs and improve family stabilization.

The clothing closet is designed to meet the basic clothing needs of Oyler students grades PreK-12.  Students are allowed to shop at the closet once a season or on emergency basis.  This volunteer based service enables Oyler students to have adequate clothing and hygiene items for the school year.  Volunteers help the students pick out new clothing items, shoes, new underwear and socks, and other items such as shampoo, backpacks, and even reading books. 

POWER PACK PROGRAM K-6^TH GRADE

The power pack program provides weekend sacks of food to be sent home with students in grades K-6^th grade who are experiencing food insecurity.  Any child who receives free/reduced lunch, or who does not have a sustainable amount of food to eat on the weekends can qualify for the power pack program.  Power packs are handed out to students Thursdays before dismissal.

The Oyler Choice Pantry is located within Oyler School and is available to all Oyler families, and Oyler students in grades 7-12 who are experiencing food insecurity outside of school.  The pantry is available for students, individuals, and families in need of food.  Please contact Lauren Luggen for assistance and arrange pickup by appointment.
