Oyler School serves students from preschool through grade 12. We are the region’s largest Community Learning Center (CLC).
Our school is part of the Cincinnati Public Schools’ Career and Workforce Readiness Program. That means Oyler students have access to real-world lessons on career exploration and finding employment.
Oyler School is named for George W. Oyler, an educator and administrator who served as principal of the school for 40 years. Born in 1828, Mr. Oyler began teaching in Cincinnati in 1854. In 1872, he was made principal of a 12-room school house. After 47 years of teaching and serving as principal, Mr. Oyler retired in 1901. The school, which had been called 21st Century School, was named Oyler School that same year.
The school was partially destroyed by a fire in 1907, but it was rebuilt. As the Lower Price Hill neighborhood grew, so too did Oyler School. In 1931, a new and larger school was built on the site. In 2012, the building underwent a $21 million renovation.
