A.P. Hampton Mentoring Program makes a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Become a Hampton mentor and experience the pleasure of watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Watch them as they gain self-esteem and self-motivation. You will be assured that you have made a positive difference in their lives.
HOW DOES HAMPTON WORK?
Everything is prepared for you. A Hampton mentor works with a student using a daily lesson plan prepared by the Hampton coordinator. The usual procedure is to read together for a few minutes, followed by an activity that is aligned to Ohio state standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
A desire to assist children develop higher level reading and math skills
TIME REQUIRED
*Each mentoring session is 30 minutes.
*You pick the day and time that’s convenient for you.
*You come each week at that time and work with the same student.
*Some Hampton mentors choose to stay for an hour and mentor two different students.
*We also have Hampton mentors that choose to come more than one day a week.
*You are asked to arrive a few minutes early on your first visit. The coordinator will acquaint you with the room, materials, books, and daily procedure.
